Summary
Reconstruction of the roadway including:
Realignment back into the right-of-way
Upgrading drainage culverts
Installation of new guardrail
Wetland mitigation on shoreline of new Adams St. Park
The Problem
Roadway failure due to subsurface geologic failure including:
Broadway Avenue has been pushed up to 40 feet outside the right-of-way
Surface water from the adjacent hillside is impounded behind an undersized culvert exacerbating the pushing and deteriorating the roadway base
Key route to Woodlawn neighborhood and Hoquiam Plywood Co. facing road closure

Funding Sources: STP (federal grant) and City funds
Current Status: design phase, right-of-way acquisition, and permitting

The Impact
The project intends to:
Reconstruct the failing roadway back in the right-of-way
Correct the drainage to preserve the new roadway
Maintain connectivity between Woodlawn, Hoquiam Plywood, and Downtown
Increase safety with wider shoulders and new guardrail
